LLS General Policies Regarding Surveys

In addition to the general University policies around surveys and evaluations, the Loyola Law School community is encouraged to familiarize themselves with the following guidelines when crafting surveys for distribution internally and externally:

  • Do not use surveys to collect protected Personally Identifiable Information such as social security numbers, financial information, username and password combinations, or any other data considered protected by the University.
  • Be mindful of over-surveying! Communicate with other departments and student organizations to see if a survey is already going out that will collect the information you are interested in and collaborate where possible.
  • Use the proper tools (more below).
  • Contact your Associate Dean or Student Affairs to discuss details of surveying the entire community or to discuss potential ethics questions.

Survey Tools

Rather than purchase individual surveying accounts, the use of University-provided tools is encouraged. Currently, these tools include:

MICROSOFT FORMS

(simple to intermediate surveys)

All faculty, staff, and students have access to Microsoft Forms through their University Office 365 accounts.

QUALTRICS

(simple to advanced)

Training to use the system is required before access will be granted. To complete training and receive an account, click the button below. Once training is complete, you will receive additional information on how to access the system and set up your survey(s).
